Airport Transfer from AHB to Abha
Today we visit two of the most iconic places in the highlands of Saudi Arabia, Jebel Sawdah and Rijal Al-Ma’. We start with a short drive into the Moshebah hills, which are covered with Mediterranean-like vegetation, and at the nearby Sehab Park, we will enjoy astonishing views from the 2,000-meter-high cliffs of the Sarawat Mountains. Our next stop is Jebel Sawdah, one of the highest points in Saudi Arabia, peaking at nearly 3,000 meters. Although “Jebel” means mountain, Sawdah is rather a hill that stands on the edge of the vertiginous cliffs of the Sarawat range where we will enjoy another dramatic perspective. After our lunch, we drive down the valley to the traditional village of Rijal Al-Ma’, which is the most impressive testimony of Aseeri traditional architecture with its dozens of impressively tall stone-made buildings. At the end of the day, we head back to Abha.
We will start the tour by visiting the Al-Muftaha district, which had a market where we shopped for different kinds of crafts. The Muftaha Village, which was in a state of neglect, was re-built based on inspirations from Asir’s heritage and culture. It was built using the traditional methods of construction with local mud and stones. It incorporates adjoining houses along the internal and external passageways built according to the Asir region’s traditional construction style. Then we will drive to The Art Street, where you will have a great walking experience as you walk through different plants of various varieties and colors. Next, we will visit Abha Dam Lake, a beautiful place with some very nice views. Afterwards, we will go to Jabal Al Akhdar, or as translated “The Green Mountain.” At the end of the tour, we will head back to your hotel in Abha.
